Have you wondered whatever became of that California priest who refused to give in to a directive from his bishop to instruct folks to vote yes to Prop 8?

If you've been following his blog, you know that Father Geoffrey Farrow was suspended for following his conscience but continues to work for LGBT justice.

The fact that he is barred from functioning as a Roman Catholic priest is bad enough, but recently, through mutual friends, I received some sad news about Father Geoff. News that makes me extremely angry. News that demonstrates the malice of a church that preaches the love of Jesus while deliberately persecuting a priest who for all the right reasons dared to follow the real teachings of Jesus.

More outrageous, stupefying behavior from "God's people." My mind boggles when I consider the fact that there are still millions of people in this world who consider religiosity to have any connection whatsoever to goodness, decency, honesty and integrity. This priest should either come over to the Episcopal Church (he looks young enough) or drop out altogether and start a secular career. As an institution the RCC really is the scum of the earth!

The position at CLUE would have been the first of a new "secular" life for Fr. Geoff. Having been through the same transition, I can tell you that the Catholic Church offers no help, no sympathy and no compassion. They consider you a traitor if you leave. The fact that your record is clear doesn't matter. I thank God for the lay Catholics who contacted me and expressed concern for me and helped me get a job, and for a handful of priest friends who never judged me and always remained open and available to me. I'd put my hand in the fire for those people.

Chris....Nietzsche also could have been speaking for the three major religious cults. Orthodox Judaism and Islam are both anti-gay and in Islam's case supports the execution of gay people for having been caught in flagrante delicto or for just being who they are.

Gary, the RC cult is probably the worst of all the christian denominations, no doubt about that. Its in decline, however, thankfully so...and long may it continue to rot from within.

Of course I wasnt bashing ALL the members or clergy of the RCC, just the ones who think like Pope Maledict XVI. Embracing a holocaust revisionist is about as LOW as he can get. I guess the nazi indoctrination he had as a child stayed with him.
