Poor Shane. He has more issues than a New York magazine stand. I hope he learns to accept himself.
12 Comments:
If I were him, I'd be pissed at myself for not going out and getting the right medications - NOT hating myself because I was gay.
He's as bad as these stuck-up gossipy 1970's-acting queens complaining about "where the REAL MEN are???".
I can tell you where they are: where the stuck-up gossipy 1970's-acting queens AREN'T. Certainly not hanging out at some hole-in-the-wall bar, looking for the next person to "read".

OMG. The kid is shallow and childish. No excuse for it. We were all once nineteen as well. He is a victim of a hateful homophobic culture and is all the proof needed for GLSEN to have had a spot on that show and have its curriculum in every US high school. At this point is Shanes life, he needs to be confronted and symbolically slapped up the head and across the face. Stupid is not cute.

To put it bluntly....This kid is one F****d up little sissy. Bad enough we have to put up with the Godhatesfags crowd and evangelical 'pray away the gay' BS, but now this. I didn't fight 30 years of hatred to have some twisted, screwed up little wannbe asexual moron play Paris Hilton to the queers. Shane do what you want but please spare me and others the whole self-loathing, Oh I hate being gay crap. I hate to say this but after watching this, I wouldn't mind bashing the little bastard mayself.

Joey7777: That is not fake. It goes out right into the collective consciousness. That is not make believe. The effects are real whether staged or not. Fantasy romance movies that promote heterosexual monogamy is fake too but it is viewed as the ideal. That's fake, staged and deliberate propaganda. I understand whay you mean but the consequences of this cannot be so easily dismissed in my mind.

Whether it is scripted or not, it does portray the common misconception that sexual orientation is a choice. Not long ago I too believed I could turn it off and on. Gay one day straight for the next three. I felt better believing I had control over. Then I woke up.
However this guy is over the top and an case for professionals. Yeah this guy has issues beyond accepting his true orientation, to say the least. Start with therapy.

mail and Trevor : I know. You're right. The fact that it's scripted actually makes it worse, because tons of people watch it and believe it.
