A very rare rose among the thorns in the democratic party including Obama. He gets my vote, hands down. He's astute, highly intelligent, a great communicator and not afraid to stick his neck out forus. Arguably, he would also be the best looking president of all time. Go Gavin!

Bush's new book (he is having written for him) will be filled with nothing but "i could've, would've, should'ves." I appreciate this but i am not getting into admiring politicians for doing what is right and promoting equality. I think that is the very least we can expect from them. Actually it is a demand if they do not meet those expectations.

Even Bush's greatest claim to accomplishment, that he "kept us safe," is a bald-faced lie. As we know, he got a CIA memo which said that "Bin Laden poised to attack within the United States" eight months before the 9-11 attacks. Hopefully, our new President will turn things around.

I have only one regret when it comes to San Francisco: I haven't been living there while Gavin Newsome has been the mayor.

Maybe we shouldn't give politicians kudos for doing the right thing, but there are so few who are inclined to do the right thing regardless of the effect upon their careers that I am willing to stand up and applaud a politician who thinks ethically without consideration of what it may or may not do to his chances for reelection. Well done, Mayor Newsome!

Merlyn, I'm with you on that. The reason why we've not come so far on full equality is that we've been far too politically correct. We should be demanding it not asking.

Chris, can you believe that Bush is getting a $7 million advance for having the book written? What on earth could he possibly fill a book with that would be of interest to anyone? During this current recession and taking all of his wealth into consideration, I would have declined it, he certainly doesn't need it lets face it. While the republicans are denigrating the stimulus package (and it was Bush that first recommended it)and the furor over AIG's bonuses, they're remaining pretty silent on Bush's whopping advance. They're also trying to pin the recession on Obama while ignoring the 4 million jobs that have been lost in the past two years up until today, all down to GOP policies. Its truly amazing how they ignore that.

I'd like them all to "do the right thing". That's unrealistic of course, but I'm optimistic to a fault. While Bush deserves his large share of blame, there are a lot of guilty parties in this economic mess on both sides of the aisle. To ignore that would hinder the clean up process today

Newsom would be a nice pick for Pres. At the same time I'm sure SF would hate to lose an awesome mayor as they provide a viable role to their cities. Hey, let's just have him cloned. I want one like him for my city.

Robert, conservative organizations and book clubs will buy up vast quantities of his book (like they do for anne coulter) so that they will appear on the NY Times best seller list and make this crap look more popular than it really is.
