Cute, it makes its point. You can bet the other side will bash back playing the victim card again. The moderates on the right among others are now using a cunning retort to those of us who bash religious bigots by saying that we're not going to convince moderates to get behind marriage quality when we challenge the religious fundamentlists' views on marriage. They really don't get it either...what they need to understand is that civil marriage has nothing to do with a religious ceremony. Somehow they seem to think they own marriage, religious and civil. That needs to change and its up to us to get that message across.

I think they're neat, too. They're not only witty, but they hit home in an easy-to-comprehend way.Some people will see those videos and think: "What if something like this happened to us?" and will realise that this "defense of traditional marriage" may well become a slippery slope. Maybe people will see the faulty logic of those who oppose marriage equality (nicely shown in all the couples who get thrown out of the anti-equality group because their marriages are not "biblical"). It will also show up the cherry picking that fundamentalists so love to do. So, I believe these ads will likely pick up supporters for marriage equality.
You know Robert, you are right in saying that the fundies will start playing the victim card--again. You would think they'd get tired of it, but apparently not.
As for alienating "moderates", as you point out, civil marriage and religious marriage are two different things. Sensible people will, sooner or later, figure this out and will understand that ther religious right does NOT own civil marriage. Churches have the right to say who gets to marry in their religions, but one day they will find that they do NOT have the right to decide who gets married by the state.

The fundies in NY state are on the war path. The National Organization for Marriage is blasting radio stations with their usual venom and I'm not hearing much from our side to challenge them. I hope we don't make the same mistake we made in California.
Already, I'm reading letters from readers in the local newspapers demanding that marriage equality should be left to the voters, obviously...same-sex marriage haters. What is this fascination with mob rule about anyway? Its a violation of the 14th amendment and unconstitutional.

Yanno, Robert, I believe they have gotten their way for so long that even the thought that they might not be able to dictate what society will and will not tolerate causes them to become apoplectic. You can be damn sure if this was something that benefitted them, they would be more than happy for it to be legislated.
Robert, don't you realize that suppression is mob rule fascination? :D If the mob had its way we would still be divided by race and religion...
