Watch the video. Then you will see why the Traditional Values Coalition is labled an official hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

It's certainly no surprise to me that fundamentalists are against hate crime laws. It's sort of like they're admitting...that they hate. This video is an absurd piece of propoganda with its plentiful supply of marginal images and attempt to all gays with the same brush. The "Traditional Values Coalition" is only "traditional" in the sense that it has been regurgitating the same old nonsense for countless years. One look at this video has made me realize just why gays have done so well as of late. With opposition like the nuts at TVC, who needs enemies?

man... the worst part is they used Keynote to make that ugly slide show/video. It's funny that they're using software designed by one of the more progressive computer companies.

That was almost campy (i guess our style and wit is rubbing off on them--a little bit anyway). The video also obviates their own arguments against the hate crimes bill. If hate crimes against lgbt people are so rare and minor, why are they getting all Linda Blair over it?!

These assholes are disgusting. I cn GUARANTEE that more than 5 people were murdered in the year referred to. Doesn't it occur to them that people still fear to bring out the gay angle on a hate crime so that it is not recorded as such?
I trust you all have seen this latest posting by the Journal of Human Sexuality.
A new report in the first edition of the peer-reviewed Journal of Human Sexuality has found that sexual orientation is not immutable and that psychological care for individuals with unwanted homosexual attractions is beneficial and poses no significant risk of harm.
The study, What Research Shows: NARTH's Response to the American Psychological Associations Claims on Homosexuality, examines over 100 years of professional and scientific literature as well as over 600 reports from clinicians, researchers, and former clients principally published in professional and peer-reviewed journals.
This research, assembled over a period of eighteen months by three of the leading academics and therapists in the field and under the direction of the NARTH Scientific Advisory Committee, refutes claims made by some factions of the American Psychological Association and several other professional mental health organizations.
Radical elements in the American Psychological Association have posited that: (1) Homosexuality is fixed and unchangeable (2) Attempts to therapeutically assist those with unwanted homosexuality are harmful (3) There are no quality of life differences in those who engage in homosexual and heterosexual behaviors.
The study, conducted by the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, found that a change in sexual orientation is possible for some individuals and does not cause psychological harm on average.
"This research is a significant milestone when it comes to the scientific debate over the issue of homosexuality," said NARTH president Dr. Julie Hamilton. "It also confirms what we have seen evidenced in hundreds of individuals who have benefited from the help of NARTH therapists.
"We believe that every person should have the right to independently determine their own course in life and for many that involves seeking counseling options that affirm their personal beliefs."

Kenny, Narth is a discredited hate group. The "Journal of Human Sexuality" is similarly a biased right wing Christian outfit with no credibility in the scientific community. There are NO credible studies showing that its possible to change sexual orientations and studies such as the Shidloe and Schraeder study have documented the harm these attempts cause. All major physical and mental health organizations advise against attempts to change people's orientation noting that the success rate is near zero and such attempts can cause serious psychological harm. NARTH has been pumping out lies for decades and this is no different.

can they not even make a video without using an austrian gay dj act for the soundtrack ?
Kenny, I'm willing to bet some serious money that if a person gets involved with NARTH had better choose the ex-gay route. As Priya Lynn has pointed out, NARTH is a hate group whose research has been discredited and honest sex researchers have come out and criticised NARTH for misusing their data and drawing mistaken conclusions from their research (actually dishonest might be more accurate).
Kenny, ask yourself why groups like NARTH and the "ex-gay ministries" never support hate crimes elgislation. Could it be because they have an interest in the continued bad treatment of GLBTQ pople? If we are treated badly enough, maybe some of us will resortto their quackery...? If these persons were truly Christian, they would want less hate in society and not more.
