The next time Orange County Assemblyman Michael Duvall wants to turn his life into a sexually explicit joke, I suggest he try open mic night at a comedy club. Instead, Duvall talked about his conquest of two married female lobbyists into an open media microphone. His career as a conservative, anti-gay hypocrite ended before one could mutter "family values".
"I am deeply saddened that my inappropriate comments have become a major distraction for my colleagues in the Assembly, who are working hard on the very serious problems facing our state," he said in a statement posted on his website. "I have come to the conclusion that it would not be fair to my family, my constituents or to my friends on both sides of the aisle to remain in office. Therefore, I have decided to resign my office, effective immediately, so that the Assembly can get back to work."
I'd like to say that I am shocked, but I'm not. This is just what anti-gay, right wing politicians do. It runs in their blood. The more one prattles on about the family, the more I question what they are truly hiding.
You'll notice he only apologized for his comments. Not for the adultery. That, apparently, he is not sorry about.

I hope his wife 'resigns' from their marriage and the husbands of the women he committed adultery with find him and punch him in the nose; but considering he's a conservative republican he's probably into S&M and would enjoy the pain and blood. BTW-I wonder how many women (and men?!) he's 'done' in the past.

Whenever I hear the "family values" mantra, then I know there's something going down with these right wing hypocrites. Look at Ensign and Sanford.

I have to say, I was kind of shocked by this. Usually, I am not at all surprised that many right-wingers get caught up in their own hypocrisy. But this man seems to have been a total charlatan...using the Christian thing to get elected while secretly not believing a word of it. I read some of the things he said into the hot mic...they are incredibly obscene. I don't think this man was a Christian who fell from grace. I think he is a con man who pretended to be a Christian because he found it to be profitable for him. Come to think of it...George W. Bush and Karl Rove (an atheist) kind of did the same thing!

Chris, doesn't shock me in the slightest. Its the way these right wingers are wired, a bunch of psychopaths, you have to be to behave that way under the guise of a religious belief system. Nothing but liars, cheats and totally corrupt. Notice how Michael Steele, Eric Cantor and others remain silent? They're probably just as bad. Not a word out of their mouths during the Ensign/Sanford scandal either, but when it was Clinton, we didn't hear the end of it.

The hypocrisy of these people would be amusing except for those they hurt. Being gay hurts no one; adultery hurts the spouse and the family members.
